Aquaponics Lab

One of the initiatives REEF oversees is the Aquaponics Lab. This is a hands-on sustainable farming experience where students see how ecosystems of plants, animals, and microbes are interconnected and get an introduction to the nitrogen cycle. It consists of an upper pool, river, and lower pool representing the environment of the Chattahoochee River.

In this lab, students will learn about:
- Local plants and animals
- Ecosystems and habitats
- Environment conservation and sustainability
- Hypothesis setting and experimental design

REEF funds all aspects of the Aquaponics Lab.
Help us continue to provide this hands-on experience to our students.

Volunteer
Each day, our students have a Specials Class (PE, Art, Music, or STEM/Flex). Some weeks the STEM class is located in the STEM classroom, but during the designated Lab Weeks, each student will have their STEM class in the Aquaponics Lab where our STEM teacher will lead hands-on activities. Volunteers are welcome to assist with the student stations.

Parents are welcome to volunteer in the Lab, but remember to:
1. Register as a volunteer at least 48 hours prior to your time slot via https://www.fultonschools.org/volunteer
.
Once registered, it will remain valid for two years.

2. Sign up to volunteer via a Sign Up Genius link that will be emailed out.
3. Once you arrive, check-in in the Front Office before going to the Aquaponics Lab.
